THE NAME

A reclaimed family name, rewritten

Airsun comes from my name, Ersson. It’s a family surname that traces back to four brothers who immigrated to Minnesota from Sweden around the turn of the twentieth century.

They all changed their last names to other surnames, like Lindstrom. Almost a century later, my mother brought the old name back. And it would have been my name whether I was born male or female.

Growing up with an unusual name wasn’t always easy. People get it wrong about 80% of the time.

But when it came time to build a DJ career, keeping the name felt right. It just needed a new phonetic spelling.

Airsun was born.

It also happens to capture what this company is about: a breath of fresh air with the warmth of sunshine.

The Airsun Promise

I’m a Bay Area DJ and event production person. I’ve been doing this since 2011.

I’ve played Bootie Mashup, Monroe SF, How Weird Street Faire, Giants Stadium, Oakland Coliseum, events for Critical Role and the major SF museums, and corporate events for a bunch of the biggest tech companies in the Bay.

In 2020, I started Airsun Productions.

Not because I had some grand business plan. Because I had the chance to build something better. A company rooted in honesty, inclusivity, and knowing what the hell we’re doing. Without the ego. Without the bro culture. Without compromise.

Airsun is one of the only queer, woman-owned DJ and AV production companies in the Bay Area, and we built it as a direct alternative to the bro culture that runs most of this industry.

Great events are about energy, intention, and making people feel alive–not ego or tradition.
